{ Venues }
Location
Always think about having a location that you like personally! Some where that you have always liked. Weather its the Botanical Gardens or a Equestrian Club, choose some where that goes with your theme. Also, always think about the reputation of that venue and how it fits with your budget.
Size
Keep in mind that one of the questions you should be asking the venue coordinator is how many it can seat. If your inviting 50+ try looking for a place that you can all feel comfortable and can move in. For 100+ look for a bigger venue with probably a bigger square space. Make sure that you can all be seated comfortably in!
Theme
Here comes the fun part! Choosing a venue that goes with your theme! Always look for something that you think will look well with color scheme and with your personal taste. If your having a aquatic theme, maybe consider having your party at a Aquarium or even a restaurant by the ocean. If your having tea, maybe think about having it at a hotel or at a tea room!
{ Guests }
Choosing
Your guest list really depends on how many guests you are allowed to choose. If your having more then 100 try thinking about the people that make you happy and that you know well from the different activities you do. If you having a more smaller party, think about the people you talk to the most and can have a good time with.
Family
If your thinking about having a dance floor and having your loud friends come to your party, it probably wouldn't be the best thing to invite your grandmother and your family members. But if your having a more quiet and close party, maybe you should have them come! Think about how comfortable they would be in your setting. And if worse comes to worse and you cant invite them, maybe you could have another family dinner with just all of you! :)
